Frightening footage has emerged of Kiwi Indy driver Scott Dixon's horrific crash on Monday (NZT), taken from Dixon's perspective.

Entering lap 54 of the race, Dixon was unable to stay clear of another incident which he met at over 340 kilometres per hour.

Vision of the crash from the driver's seat show Dixon's hands on the steering wheel as his car gets airborne.

On the rear camera of a car driving away from the incident, you see Dixon's car hit the fence before bursting into flames.

The 36-year-old escaped unscathed from the incident, later posting to social media about the 'wild ride'.
