Washington Wizards run over in-form Boston Celtics 116-89 for first win of series

Washington have closed the gap on Boston in their NBA playoffs series, winning their opening home game 116-89 to trail the Celtics 2-1

Point guard John Wall had a game-high 24 points and eight assists for the Wizards, who kept their opponent's game-two hero Isaiah Thomas quiet with 13 points.

Washington's Otto Porter Jr and Bojan Bogdanovic each contributed 19 points, while centre Marcin Gortat had 13 points and 16 rebounds.

Centre Al Horford top scored with 16 points for the Celtics.

Thomas, who scored 53 points in the Eastern Conference semi-final's second game, played almost half-an-hour but struggled to get into the game, shooting three- from-eight from the field.
