Tai Webster’s dream of playing in the NBA remains alive after signing to play with the Charlotte Hornets at the NBA Summer League.

The 22-year old was overlooked at Friday’s draft but was quickly snapped up by the Hornets - who are owned by NBA legend Michael Jordan.

Webster was an outside chance to be selected late in the second-round, but was missed the cut in a talent-stocked draft.

The Hornets worked out Webster before the draft, and have now decided to give the Kiwi another chance.

Making the NBA after going undrafted is a tall order, but certainly not impossible. Former NBA champions Ben Wallace and Bruce Bowen both went undrafted in the 1990’s and both eventually played key roles on championship winning teams.

Webster spent four years playing at the University of Nebraska, averaging 17.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists in his final year at college.

His older brother, Corey has been given another chance at cracking the big time,  signing for the Dallas Mavericks Summer League team.

Webster has been working out with the Mavericks this month, and impressed coaches enough  to get the call up.

The 28-year old previously attended training camp, and played pre-season basketball for the New Orleans Pelicans in 2015.

The former Breakers guard played in three preseason games for the Pelicans, averaging 1.3 points and 2.0 assists per game.

The Hornets begin their campaign on July first at the Orlando Summer League from July 1-6, while the Mavericks will play at the Las Vegas Summer League, from July 7-17.
