Video: Scott Robertson bracing Crusaders for all the tricks the Highlanders will bring to the table

Scott Robertson is expecting the unexpected when his Crusaders side takes on the Highlanders in Christchurch on Saturday afternoon.

The table-toppers have brushed off all-comers in 2017, remaining unbeaten after 15 rounds, but they face a confident side which is riding a nine-match winning streak of their own.

The Highlanders have adopted an attacking brand of rugby in the last two months, notching up multiple bonus points for three-try victories.

Robertson is well aware of what they bring to the table.

"They are going to run more specials than Briscoes," said Robertson

"They have created minds down there and we are well are that they are very innovative so we have to be on it."

A big part of the Crusaders' turnaround this season has been their performances in New Zealand derbies, which included a come-from-behind win against the southerners in March.

Trailing by 21 points with 26 minutes to go, the Crusaders stormed home to run out 30-27 winners and stun the Highlanders.

Robertson is in no doubt that the result of that game will have motivated their foes, who have a great record in Christchurch having won there in 2015.

"We understand what the Highlanders will bring, the history of that game from earlier in the year and they have been successful coming up here a few times so we are really clear on how big it is.

"Everyone knows it's going to be a really big match."

One point of contention in selecting his side this week was the omission of incumbent All Black winger Israel Dagg.

Robertson went with the in-form David Havilli at fullback, with George Bridge and Seta Tamanivalu getting the nod on the wing.

The Crusaders coach said it's as simple as a horses-for-courses approach.

"We had a conversation and felt this week was best for him [to sit on the bench], but that doesn't mean next week will be the same.

"The combinations and the way [the Highlanders] play, their tactical play, we think that our back three suit this game.

"David [Havilli] loves the high-ball and he is very good at it.

"This is another chance for him to play and keep his rhythm. We are really proud of what he has achieved this year and I'm sure he will be in for a little bit of attention."

The match kicks off at 2:30pm.
