Less than a month removed from winning the America's Cup, Team New Zealand helmsman Peter Burling has revealed his next challenge.

The 26-year-old revealed on social media Saturday morning that he'd be competing at the Moth world championships at Lake Garda, Italy next week.

Burling admitted it'd been over two years since he sailed the development class dinghy, which is designed to hydroplane on foils.

"It's been two years since I sailed a moth but I've been drawn back to sail the Worlds at this beautiful venue," Burling said on Instagram, including a photo of himself with his vessel at the picturesque Northern Italy lake.

He'll be hoping for a repeat of that very performance back in 2015, when he took out the gold medal in Australia.

Burling will be joined at the start line by Oracle Team USA's Kyle Langford and Tom Slingsby, while Artemis' Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen are two others backing up from Bermuda.

Meanwhile, Olympic champion cohort Blair Tuke has departed for his next adventure at the Volvo Ocean Race as part of Spanish team MAPFRE.

The competition in Italy begins on Tuesday evening (NZT), while the round-the-world ocean race gets underway in October.
