Otago Boys High School First XV heading to world schools tournament in South Africa

Next April the Otago Boys High School First XV will join teams from around the globe at a new world schools tournament in South Africa.

The competition's inaugural event is being run by former Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer, who has invited 10 school teams from around the world.

Meyer led the Bulls to the 2007 Super Rugby title and the Springboks from 2012-2015.

The week-long event accompanies top South Africa schoolboy rugby team Paarl Boys' High School's 150th anniversary.

Otago Boys is regarded as one of the powerhouse schools in New Zealand rugby, with Richie McCaw, Wyatt Crocektt and Byron Kelleher former students.

The tournament will run from April 2-8 next year.
