White Ferns captain Suzie Bates has delivered a spectacular all-round performance in English cricket's Twenty20 Super League.

The 29-year-old became the first century-maker in the competition's history as she blasted an unbeaten 119 just 72 balls for her Southern Vipers, including 15 fours and four sixes.

Bates wasn't done there as she went on to star in the field, claiming three wickets for just 15 runs conceded, adding a brilliant boundary catch to guide her side to a 46-run victory over the Loughborough Lightning.

The reigning ICC women's player of the year was also a stand-out in the Vipers' opening game, taking 2-8 with the ball before smashing 47 not out off 31 balls to beat the Western Storm.

The Vipers currently sit at the top of the competition ladder as they look to defend their 2016 title.
