As it happened: All Blacks vs Argentina - Rugby Championship 2017

New Zealand - 36 Argentina - 10

FULLTIME - A frustrating second half but ultimately a comfortable win from a green All Blacks side in hostile territory. Stay tuned for highlights.

80 mins - TRY ALL BLACKS - Well worked move from the back of the scrum puts Havili into a gaping hole and over for a try in his Test debut. Encouraging signs from the young Crusader. All Blacks 36-10

79 mins - Hefty drive from the line-out falls just a metre short of the line. To the backs they go but the passing is poor, and they'll go back for the penalty advantage.

78 mins - Slick move puts Havili into some space, finds McKenize whose return pass goes straight into touch. Back for the pnealty they go, line-out at the 22m after the Barrett kick.

75 mins - Havili splits the defence and puts the foot down after taking a poor clearing kick, links with Naholo who finds Laumape but the Hurricane can't quite make the corner. There's the Havili we saw in Super Rugby.

73 mins - Line-out goes awry for NZ and the Pumas are able to clear. This contest really limping to a close now.

71 mins - Havili on to the field and his first act is a kick to the wing which floats straight into touch on the full. NZ do well to win the penalty at the breakdown. It's been a shaky second half, they'll be keen to take at least some points from it.

70 mins - NZ concede their 17th turnover of the match from the line-out as an eerie silence takes over the stadium.

68 mins - Laumape strong into contact and Naholo gets some front foot ball, looks for the support doubling around but throws it to a defender.

67 mins - He'll immediately have another chance to redeem himself, scrum goes down and it's a penalty to NZ.

66 mins - Barrett's touch-finder is out on the full, things deteriorating fast here.

64 mins - NZ line-out at halfway...work through the phases but a sloppy pass unable to be taken by Taylor. Scrum Pumas, and there's another defensive penalty won by the All Blacks' front-row. Crockett making a big impact from the bench.

60 mins - Great offload Scott Barrett and it's his brother into space....Naholo to Taylor and he gets the ball back and dots down in the corner. Try awarded but they want to look at the final pass. Forward it's ruled, and we'll go back for the scrum at the 22m.

59 mins - Huge scrum from Tu'ungafasi and NZ as their dominance at scrumtime continues. Barrett will put the penalty into touch on the oppostion 22m.

58 mins - Coles with a rare error at line-out time, the Pumas will feed a scrum 40m out from the line.

57 mins - Pumas turn the ball over and clear immediately into open pastures. Into touch the ball rolls on the NZ 10m line. Read four minutes away from retaking the field.

56 mins - McKenzie with a spectacular take from the Barrett bomb and NZ are right back on attack.

54 mins - TRY PUMAS - And the try is awarded! Too much pressure on the short-handed NZ defence and that's a well deserved try for Argentina and Landajo. Sanzhez converts. All Blacks 29-10

53 mins - Incredible scrambling defence but the Pumas are linking well on attack, somehow NZ repelling phase after phase on their own line. Landajo is over among a mass of bodies. Peyper believes he's seen the ball on the grass, wants an excuse to not award it from his man in the booth....

51 mins - To another 5m line-out we go, Pumas now with the one-man advantage. Turnover NZ, they just can't crack them. Dominant opening stanza of possession and territory and still not a point to show for it for the hosts.

50 mins - Pumas edge their way back to the 22m but the NZ defence is more than up to the task. Ref stops play to review what is a high shot from Read, this will likely be another yellow card...possibly worse. Yellow it is, and the skipper seems slightly relieved.

49 mins - Matera free and gunning for the corner but it's Romano and Smith with some superb cover defence, into touch he's forced. 22m restart.

48 mins - Maul formed and rolling but NZ continue to hold out. Ref playing advantage once again, and there's yet another penalty. Line-out reset.

47 mins - Crucial tackle made by McKenzie, shifted perfectly to read the pass and shut down the movement. Pumas win a penalty and will go from the 5m line-out.

46 mins - NZ get a bit sloppy on attack, Barrett scrambles and looks for the wipers kick but it's straight into touch. Pumas make good metres from the line-out move....just metres short....

44 mins - Ioane draws multiple defenders, somehow pops a ball wide to Fifita who looks to make the trademark defender hurdle, but no dice on this occasion as he's shoved into touch 5m short.

43 mins - Smith with a clever kick down the blindside from another sturdy scrum. Ioane chases hard and there's too much pressure for the fullback who fumbles. NZ scrum 22m out from the Argie line.

42 mins - Crunching tackle from SBW following a Fifita torpedo, jolts the ball free and it's NZ scrum at their 10m.

41 mins - Smith with the box kick from his 22m and he gets some quality purchase, back the half they go.

Second half underway...

HALFTIME - The All Blacks have been typically ruthless this morning, guided by a Beauden Barrett masterclass as they run in four first half tries to close out the contest early. Stay tuned for the second half action.

40 mins - More referee lectures as we hit scrum reset number four. Finally we get a clean feed....and the All Blacks front-row puts in the shunt to win the penalty. Demoraling stuff for the Pumas as the players make their way to the sheds.

39 mins - Scrum now for the Pumas. Can they nab a try before halftime? So far this defence is proving hard to crack.

38 mins - In come the Argie backs as they shove goes in, two metres out. Down goes the maul but Peyper says it was illegal. Todd will pay the price, off for 10 mins in the sin-bin as the yellow card is shown. Replays suggest it was a pretty harsh decision, looked to have done everything right there.

37 mins - Pumas look to maul from the line-out by the NZ defence holds firm. Creevy drops the ball, but they'll launch again after another penalty.

35 mins - Pumas slowly make their way over the advantage line, penalty won for hands in the ruck by SBW. Great kick to the corner form Sanchez, deep into the corner. The Pumas' best chance of the game coming up here, they desperately need some points before halftime.

33 mins - De la Fuente skips his way to the half but no advantage after the NZ knock-on. The Pumas are really stuggling to deal with the waves of NZ defenders.

32 mins - Pumas scrum at halfway after NZ kick dead. Phase five as they edge towards the 22m, but the ball is turned and McKenzie bangs a kick deep. Back inside the Pumas half they go.

30 mins - Barrett with the fend and he jets into open space, finds Smith who goes wide to Fifita, can't find naholo inside for the easy try. Barrett bombs to the wing but the mark is claimed.

29 mins - McKenzie carves the defence apart from the restart and throws a lovely skip ball to Ioane who steamrolls two defenders as he makes his way to the Pumas 22m. Play breaks down and NZ are pushed into touch, the Pumas able to breathe briefly.

26 mins - TRY ALL BLACKS - Some magical work from...guess who? Barrett throws an audacious pass between his legs for McKenzie whose fend and acceleration splits the defence and it's a simple inside pass to Read for the skipper's brace. Barrett converts. NZ 29-34

25 mins - Pablo Matera with some fantastic work at the breakdown and he wins his side a relieving penalty of their own. To the halfway they go.

24 mins - Pumas on the wrong side of the ref again, six penalty advantage to NZ as they go to a 5m line-out. Pumas steal the throw but the clearing kick is poor, NZ go again from the 22m.

22 mins - Stoppage in play as Peyper wants to have a look at what may be a high hit on SBW. Penalty awarded and NZ will launch again from 30m out. Possibly a harsh decision, looked to have arms in it.

20 mins - TRY ALL BLACKS - Smith's skip pass puts Barrett in half a gap and the first-five fends his way through before throwing a stunning back-hand pass to his winger Naholo who beats two down the right edge to score. Vintage Barrett magic on display, and he slots the sideline conversion. All Blacks 22-3

19 mins - Mistake from the restart and the All Blacks go from the scrum...

16 mins - TRY ALL BLACKS - NZ scrum looked to be rummaging to a push-over try until a Pumas player blatanely kicks the ball from underneath read's feet. Mckenzie thinks quickly and sprints to the mark, taps and leaps over to score right at the base of the post. Conversion over. All Blacks 15-3

15 mins - Short-side they go to Barrett who can't quite link with Ioane. Another advantage being played as NZ continue to roll. Play breaks down and the whistle is blown. Foot on pedal for Read, scrum again a few metres out....

14 mins - NZ hot on attack now, Lienert-Brown goes close and it's penalty advantage. Peyper blows it up and it looks like NZ will opt for the scrum, just 6 metres out....

13 mins - Messy ball at the line-out for the Pumas and NZ win a penalty at the ensuing ruck, great work SBW to pounce on that. Barrett takes ut to a line-out 22m out....

11 mins - Turnover at the ruck as Matt Todd gets caught out. Pumas look to have a hefty overlap but they can't shift the ball quickly enough and the NZ defence shuts it down and into touch. NZ win a penalty after some niggle at the line-out and Barrett clears to the 50m.

10 mins - Argentina return from a clearance and Sanchez kicks again, NZ line-out at their 22m.

9 mins - Pumas work the ball to the 50m, Sanchez opts to chip to the sideline and the ABs go quickly.

7 mins - TRY ALL BLACKS - McKenzie takes a deft offload from SBW and does well to work the space into an overlap, shifts to Naholo who finds Read and the skipper crashes over out wide. Poor defence from the hosts. Barrett hooks the conversion. All Blacks 8-3

6 mins - Pumas clear from the restart and McKenzie returns it with interest.

4 mins - Pumas regain possession from the restart and are immediately deep on attack. Penalty conceded by NZ and the Pumas will draw level quickly. Sanchez bangs it over. 3-3

3 mins - Silly play at the ruck by a Pumas forward as he shoves Smith over, clearly offisde. Barrett slots the opening points from right in front. All Blacks 3-0

2 mins - Read off the back of the scrum to Smith but the halfback's ball to McKenzie is poor and the ball's spilt. Arge clear but only as fasr as the 22m. Pressure still on.

1 min - Barrett's kick-off scrappily gathered by the Pumas, more pressure at the ruck and NZ and they win a scrumfeed five metres out from the Pumas line. What a superb early attacking opportunity.

11:41am - Kapa o pango today for the All Blacks as they form the 'flying vee'. News of a $700,000 bet coming in behind NZ to win.

11:39am - That latino passion shining through during a rousing rendition of their anthem, looks to be a fired-up Pumas squad bracing for battle as the tears flow freely.

11:36am - Both sides on the park as we kick into some anthems. And the singer seems to have forgotten the words to the Maori version completely, nothing but mumbles along to the melody.

11:33am - The All Blacks are huddled for a final team talk between they take to the tunnel. We're about six minutes away from kick-off.

11:20am - Buenos dias mi amigos! Nothing like all an All Blacks brunch on a Sunday, here's hoping there's some expansive rugby from Buenos Aires to complement your bacon. Current conditions are encouraging, although there is some rain forecast.
