Lydia Ko has snapped-out of her form slump in the United States.

The 20-year old-shot an eight-under-par 64 early on day two of the three-round tournament in Indianapolis, to set the pace at 15-under.

Ko was joined late in the day by American rival Lexi Thompson, who followed up her first round of 63 with a 66 in the 2nd round.

Spaniard Sandra Gal's chances evaporated with a disastrous 16th hole, when she record a 10, and dropped six shots.

The New Zealander seems to have shaken the uncertainty which saw her miss the cut at the Canadian Open a fortnight ago.

"I think that's there a lot of great vibes here.  I know that I still have a full 18 holes to go tomorrow to go.  But I just enjoy being in this position," she said.

Ko's only negative was her first bogey of the tournament on the eighth hole.

"You sometimes have those mistakes and you just need to move on from that.

"For me it was important to play some solid golf and put myself in a good position"

It's a timely return to form for the former world No.1, who returns to the scene of her first major championship title at the Evian Championship on the shores of Lake Geneva next week.

She then returns home to host the McKayson New Zealand Women's Golf Open in South Auckland, at the end of the month.
