The break might have done the trick for Lydia Ko.

The former world No.1 has fired a flawless seven-under-par round of 65, to sit in a share of fourth place after the first round of the LPGA Tour's latest tournament in Indianapolis.

She made the most of the calm conditions and a late tee-off.

Lexi Thompson is the outright leader at nine-under.

It's nearly two weeks since Ko crashed out of one of her favourite tournaments, missing the cut at the Canadian Open.

The 20 year old's dropped to eighth in the world rankings.

It's an important event for her ahead of the scene of her first major title next week, when the world's best converge on the shores of Lake Geneva for the Evian Championship.

It's a huge couple of weeks for Ko, who then heads home to host the LPGA-sanctioned McKaysan New Zealand Women's Golf Open in South Auckland.
