Kiwi NBA star Steven Adams has a new teammate according to reports, with the New York Knicks trading Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 33-year-old has been traded for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a second-round draft pick.

Anthony is a 10-time all-star and three-time Olympic gold-medallist, but has yet to win an NBA championship ring.

He had been linked to a number of teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Houston Rockets.

Anthony was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2003, and was then traded to the Knicks in 2011.

The small forward becomes the Thunder's second big off-season addition after adding Paul George via trade back in July.

In 74 matches last season, Anthony averaged 24.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

The deal is set to be made official on Tuesday (NZ time).

The Thunder's first game this season is against the Knicks in Oklahoma City on October 20 (NZ time).
