Steve Adams as understated as ever in describing new superstar teammates Carmelo Anthony and Paul George

Kiwi basketball star Steven Adams is hoping for a few more good looks in the NBA this season, as he looks to go under the radar amongst his stacked Oklahoma City Thunder side.

OKC have added 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony from the New York Knicks, alongside former Indiana Pacers guard Paul George. Combined with the stat-stuffing Russell Westbrook, Adams is hoping he’ll receive a little bit less attention from the defence.

"Now with the additions to the team, it should spread out a bit more," he said.

He's also excited to team up with the experience and talent of Anthony and George.

"Oh they're cool, they're really cool. They're good lads and they mean well. It should be good, they all came in with good spirits."

Adams is back in the States after running his basketball camps around New Zealand, and getting up to some classic kiwi pre-season training with a sledgehammer, and an old tractor tyre.

"We flew into Wellington, that's where I'm based, and we decided to do a night workout on the beach.

"Yeah it was good mate, but it was freezing!"

The 24-year old's been working on all aspects of his game, as he looks to improve on last season's averages of 11.3 PPG and 7.7 RPG.

"A lot of things, it's a wide variety, because all of them come into play, especially with how we play. You have to work on everything … whatever you can think of, I worked on it."

The Thunder kick off their season at home with a blockbusting clash against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday afternoon (NZT).
