Wellington Lions showcase charity jersey at Wellington Children's Hospital

The Wellington Lions have put rugby to one side for the day as they paraded their special edition jerseys to raise money for the the Wellington Children's Hospital.

Julian Savea, Jackson Garden-Bashop and Brad Shields were on hand to meet with the children and display the charity jersey.

"It's very humbling, it's really special for us to be able to come here and hopefully put a smile on the kids faces," Julian Savea said.

The jersey's will all be auctioned off after Sunday's match against Otago, with all proceeds going straight to the children's hospital.

Last year more than $6000 was raised for the hospital.

"It's awesome to raise money for the kids and try give them access to the resources they need to try and get out of here as quickly as possible," Savea said.

"It's an honor and privilege to represent these kids and the hospital on the field, and anything we can do put a smile on their faces is great."

With the hope of topping the $6000 mark this year, motivation for a win against Otago won't be hard to come by.
