World reacts to Joseph Parker's win over Hughie Fury

Joseph Parker has successfully defended his WBO World Title beating Hughie Fury by decision in Manchester on Sunday (NZ time).

While some of the reaction online is positive, some people are dispute the judges' call.

Hughie Fury's promoter and trainer were obviously not happy with the result.

"It was a masterclass," he said.

"Beautiful boxing by Hughie and I can't see why these judges have robbed this poor young lad," Mick Hennessey told BBC radio after the fight.

"It's disgusting. I'm going to lodge an appeal straight away."

Peter Fury said: "I wanted him to do more, I wanted him to throw the right hand more but I did think he won it. He has to let his shots go more and I've always said, if you want to beat a champion, you've got to take it from them."

British boxer Dillian Whyte has called out Joseph Parker on social media.

BBC boxing pundit Steve Bunce share his thoughts on the fight.

"I can't join the chorus of people saying Hughie was robbed. This was a case of judges agreeing with a certain style of boxing. Pure aggression was the winner on the night. Plain and simple."

Meanwhile Tyson Fury was another person not happy with the result.

There was of course some postive reaction from a few of Parker's well known fans.

The Mirror's David Anderson thought the two 118-110 scores where harsh.

"Hughie Fury chopped wood to prepare for his world title tilt - but he was cut down to size by Joseph Parker.

"Fury came up short in his attempt to emulate cousin Tyson by claiming the WBO heavyweight title as he dropped a majority decision to Parker at Manchester Arena.

"Fury drew on one card 114-114, while the other two judges scored the fight 118-110, which appeared harsh on the challenger, who suffered his first pro defeat.

"But distance the harshness of those scores, Fury simply did not land enough shots as he tried to copy Tyson’s tactics against Wladimir Klitschko by hitting on the outside.

"Fury’s tactics were to keep on the outside and use his superior reach to hit and run. Parker had vowed to hunt Fury down and caught him early in the first round before the unbeaten challenger recovered to land a couple of jabs."

Somebody in the Fury camp didn't think Parker was worthy of having the title.

The Sun UK labelled the fight as controversial.

"It seemed Hughie genuinely thought he had won that fight.

"But his family did not complain over the majority draw so maybe they knew deep down their boy had not done enough…

"Fury simply did not land enough shots as he tried to copy (cousin) Tyson's tactics against Wladimir Klitschko by hitting on the outside. Instead Parker took the fight to Fury in every round and landed the cleaner shots as he stretched his unbeaten record to 24-0.
