Kiwi driver Brendon Hartley will be thrust into the entertainment big time during his Formula One debut.

The 27-year-old is linking-up with the Toro Rosso team for the United States Grand Prix in Austin.

He's spent time in England in the Red Bull simulator, before he joins his new team across the Atlantic.

Hartley will face the media at an official F.I.A press conference on Friday (NZ time).

There'll be plenty of other big names on show in the Texan capital, besides Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.

Eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt will swap the starting blocks for the starter's gun to get the Grand Prix underway on Monday with Hamilton set to drive Bolt round the track in a road car two hours before the big race.

Famed boxing announcer Michael Buffer is also part of the star-studded line-up, and will introduce the drivers one-by-one, including Brendon Hartley.

Formua 1's new owners Liberty Media have also taken the unprecedented step of changing the sport's schedule to accommodate a Justin Timberlake concert.

The pop superstar is due to perform at the circuit on Saturday evening and qualifying will be moved back by two hours.

Hamilton heads Sebastian Vettel in the title race by 59 points and will seal his third championship in four years if he wins on Sunday, and his rival finishes sixth or lower.

Hartley will team-up with Russian driver Daniil Kvyat for Red Bull.

There are also reports that the Palmerston North-raised driver will get a second chance to impress the Toro Rosso bosses at the Mexican Grand Prix.
