Canadian sensation Denis Shapovalov confirmed for Auckland's ASB Classic

Teen sensation Denis Shapovalov is the latest big name to commit to January's ASB Classic in Auckland.

The 18-year-old Canadian has enjoyed a stellar 2017, highlighted by wins over both Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin del Potro during his run to the semi-finals of the Montreal Masters in August.

Such results have seen him skyrocket up the ATP rankings, recently cracking the world's top 50 after starting the year at a lowly 250.

Tournament director Karl Budge is well aware of the youngster's quality and the "unbelievable" brand of tennis he'll be bringing to New Zealand.

"It's like watching a combination of [Rafael] Nadal and [Roger] Federer at 18 years old. He has the fire of Nadal and the speed around the court of Nadal and he has the grace of Federer," claims Budge.

"This is the signing we have wanted all year. There is no question he is the future of Men's tennis and what he’s achieved this year has been staggering".

Also confirmed for the tournament to date are former champions Jack Sock and John Isner, with further announcements expected over the coming months.
