World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will face Carlos Takam with his IBF, WBA and IBO heavyweight belts on the line on Saturday (Sunday NZ time) after mandatory fighter Kubrat Pulev pulled out because of a shoulder injury.

The 36 year-old Takam was asked to replace Pulev just 12 days before the fight and accepted the offer for a chance to win three world title belts.

Takam has 35 wins, one draw and three defeats to his name and believes he can call on that experience to cause a problem for Joshua.

"I am going to lean on this experience on this fight on Saturday against Anthony (Joshua)," he said.

"I know Anthony is a young boxer, who likes to lay it all out. I will use this experience to contain Anthony and to win the fight."

'AJ' is itching to get back in the ring after a career-defining win against former world champion Wladimir Klitschko in April.

The 28 year-old Joshua seemed unflustered by the change of opponent and was happy there would still be a fight on Saturday.

Joshua is unbeaten in his 19 fights and only one of those fights - against Wladimir Klitschko in April - went beyond seven rounds.

"It would have been a long time for me to be out the ring as well" he said. "It would have been April, no fight this year, so that could have been a year out the ring. I think for this stage in my career it's way too early (to take a year out)."

However he is interested to see how Takam fares due to his hirsty with fighting taller opponents.

Takam stands at 187cm while Joshua is 198cm tall.

"I think Takam can take a bit more and has a more patient style (than Pulev).

"He's not going to fight on emotion, he's going to fight on tactics. I also think Takam has fought a million guys my height. He's used to a bit taller.

Everyone is asking about change of opponent in terms of physique. For me, because I'm used to fighting bigger guys, now I'm fighting a smaller guy in terms of Takam, he's probably the shortest of the heavyweight division.

"He's so experienced against taller guys. It will be interesting to see how he copes and how I cope."

The fight will take place in front of an expected sell-out crowd of 78,000 at the fight at the Principality Stadium, in Cardiff.
