All Whites coach Anthony Hudson is reportedly hot on the radar of MLS club the Colorado Rapids.

According to Goal, multiple sources have confirmed the American-born manager to be the leading candidate to take over their currently vacant head coach position.

Speaking to Brendan Telfer on RadioLIVE, Ives Galarcep, a reporter from the football website said he believes the deal is already done.

"The Rapids have concluded their coaching search and it sounds like Anthony Hudson's their man," Galarcep said.

"It sounds like they've reached an agreement, it sounds like he's their man and that's who they want to hire."

Galarcep did, however, indicate the agreement is dependent on the outcome of New Zealand's intercontinental playoff matches against Peru.

"What it does sound like though is that if New Zealand does qualify for the World Cup that he stays with New Zealand," Galarcep said.

"I don't think anyone would expect him to leave the opportunity to go to a World Cup.

"But if New Zealand is eliminated, it looks like everything is in place now for him to come to MLS and coach the Rapids."

Should the All Whites book their place in Russia, Galarcep is unsure how New Zealand football would approach the situation regarding their 36-year-old manager.

"I don't know if there are any contingencies there, I don't know if New Zealand's going to allow him to coach with Colorado as well, but my understanding is Colorado wants him as their coach" Galarcep said.

The Rapids have not had a permanent head coach since Pablo Mstroeni was sacked in August, and reportedly looked far and wide for a potential replacement.

Galarcep understands Hudson immediately became the Denver-based club's preferred option, having impressed their coaches.

"Their sporting director did reveal that they have looked at candidates from around the world, including Oceania," Galarcep said.

"Pretty early on in the process that Hudson had established himself as one of the favourites; I think he really won over the technical staff in Colorado just with his philosophies."
