All Whites striker Chris Wood was injured during Burnley's 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday (NZ time).

The 25-year-old went off in the 19th minute of the match with a tight hamstring.

"We are hopeful it isn't serious," said Burnley manager Sean Dyche after the match.

"He was feeling it so we thought right, we have to make that decision."

It was the Clarets' first loss away from home this season and ended a six-game unbeaten run.

Manchester led 1-0 at halftime due to a controversial penalty which Sergio Aguero calmly converted as he drew level with Eric Brook's record of 177 goals for the club.

Nicolas Hernan Otamend iand Leroy Sane both scored in the second half to set up the win as City now hold a five-point lead atop of the Premier League standings.

City had 78 percent possession, while Burney failed to get a single shot on target.

Two first-half goals by newly-promoted Huddersfield have helped them stun Manchester United 2-1 at The John Smith's Stadium.

Australian international Aaron Mooy scored the first goal, collecting the ball off a blocked shot which was followed up another five minutes later through Laurent Depoitre to double the lead.

Marcus Rashford scored a late second-half goal to set up a thrilling finish, but Huddersfield hung on to claim their first league win against United since 1952 and end a run of six league games without a victory.

Chelsea crush Watford

Three late second-half goals have propelled Chelsea to a 4-2 win over Watford at Stamford Bridge.

Trailing 2-1 early in the second half, goals from Cesar Azpilicueta along with a brace by Michy Batshuayi helped end a three-winless run for the Blues.

The defending Premier League champions scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minutes, but two quick-fire goals either side of halftime put Watford in prime position to claim a famous win.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte credited his substitutes for the come-from-behind win.

"Substitutions sometimes work and sometimes don't. It's important for a coach to decide the right moment if there's a situation to improve... I was pleased for Michy," Conte said. "I think today I was lucky."

Substitute Mikel Merino scored a late winner as Newcastle beat Crystal Palace to keep Roy Hodgson's side rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.

The Spaniard soared high inside the penalty box to header the ball home to give Newcastle their fourth win of the season.

The victory lifts Newcastle to sixth in the table and above Arsenal and Liverpool, who visit Everton and Tottenham respectively on Monday (NZ time).

Stoke fall into bottom three

Stoke City have fallen into the relegation zone after going down 2-1 to Bournemouth.

Two first-half goals in the space of three minutes were enough for Bournemouth to claim a much-needed win.

Andrew Surman scored with a well-struck shot from 20 yards out, while Junior Stanislas scored from the penalty spot moments later.

Despite the win, the Cherries still remain in the bottom three, but the win does close the gap with those directly above them, including Stoke.

Caretaker boss Michael Appleton has helped guide Leicester to their second win of the season with a 2-1 win over Swansea.

Appleton has taken charge after the dismissal of Craig Shakespeare who was sacked after a poor start of the season.

"It has been a difficult week. To produce that performance after the week we have had, the players deserve a lot of credit," said Appleton after the match.

"It's about staying in the role I have already been given, and obviously I would love to stay on after that."

The Foxes led 1-0 at the break as Federico Fernandez diverted Riyad Mahrez's cross into his own net.

Leicester went on to double their advantage early in the second half as Mahrez cushioned Albrighton's cross into the centre for Okazaki, who finished at close range.

Alfie Mawson halved the deficit for Swansea minutes later but there was to be no equaliser as Leicester held on.

Southampton edge West Brom

Substitute Sofiane Boufal scored one of the goals of the season as Southampton snatched a late winner against a West Brom.

Boufal picked the ball up deep in his own half and evaded several defenders before curling into the bottom corner with minutes remaining.

It was Southampton's first win in four matches, while West Brom remain winless since August.
