South African coach Allister Coetzee: We can't beat the All Blacks

Don't bother getting up in the early hours of Sunday morning to watch the All Blacks play South Africa, because the Springboks have zero chance of winning, according to their coach.

Allister Coetzee was talking up a big game three weeks ago when his side rolled into Auckland for the Rugby Championship Test against the world champions.

But a 57-0 thrashing has clearly changed his mind. He's all-but conceded defeat six days before the match in Cape Town.

The 54-year-old told The Cape Times paper that the All Blacks are on another level.

"We, as a new-look team, only got together this year, so after three months and two weeks together thinking we're in a position to topple the All Blacks would be living in a fool's paradise," he said.

However, the New Zealand camp isn't buying in to it. On arrival in Cape Town, coach Steve Hansen fronted the waiting press.

When asked for comment by Newshub rugby editor Ross Karl, Hansen scoffed at the notion that the result was a foregone conclusion.

"You don't want to believe everything you read in the paper," Hansen said.

"What you have to understand that it's a beautiful way to psyche his own team up.

"It's reverse psychology, so you guys (the press) can believe it if you want to, but we won't be."

Hansen said despite the dominant scoreboard in Albany last month, his players came off the park feeling battered and bruised. It was as simple as a few bounce of the ball moments that took the game away from the Springboks.

"Our guys after that game in Albany, while the score was so big, talking to them it didn't feel any different.

"We were pretty fortunate in that we took every chance we created and they didn't. It won't take much for it to swing back the other way."

Hansen added that despite the secured Rugby Championship, he will look to select the best team possible to complete a tournament sweep.

"The fact that we have won the Rugby Championship is obviously pleasing, but we are playing one of our greatest foes and one that we have a lot of history [with] and one that we have a lot of respect for.

"We are looking forward to the game."

The All Blacks haven't played in Cape Town since 2008 when they topped the Boks 19-0 thanks to 11-points from Daniel Carter.
