All Blacks legend Daniel Carter is set to finish his illustrious rugby career in the 'Land of the Rising Sun' with the Kobe Kobelco Steelers, according to a Japanese media agency.

Sources told the Kyodo News that the first-five would sign with the Japanese club when he finishes his three-year deal with French side Racing 92 in June.

Carter signed for the Top 14 team at the end of 2014, in a deal that made him the game's highest-paid player.

Should the two-time Rugby World Cup winner make the move, the 35-year-old would re-unite with fellow former Crusader and All Black Andy Ellis and former Wallabies player Adam Ashley-Cooper.

Carter played 112 games for New Zealand and is the highest point-scorer in Test match rugby.
