Blackcaps rout India by 40 runs thanks to blazing hundred from Colin Munro

New Zealand have hit top gear in a 40-run thumping of India in the second T20 international in Rajkot.

Makeshift opener Colin Munro smashed a blistering 109 off just 58 balls as the Blackcaps amassed an impressive 196 off their allotted 20 overs.

Munro put on 105 for the first wicket with Martin Guptill (45) as the visitors plundered the Indian attack around the park.

The Auckland batting duo combined for 10 sixes and 10 fours, taking the game away from India in a must win match with New Zealand looking to keep the series alive.

India were never really in the hunt after Trent Boult struck twice in his first over, despite a 45 ball 65 from captain Virat Kohli, the hosts fell well short of the target.

Boult ended with 4/34 from his four overs while Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi and Colin Munro snared one-wicket each.

The series decider is on Wednesday morning (NZT).
