Peru touch down in Wellington, fans take over airport

Peru have touched down in Wellington ahead of Saturday's World Cup playoff with the All Whites, greeted by hundreds of screaming fans.

The domestic terminal was crowded at Wellington airport as fans brought the drums, the trumpets and the chants in anticipation for their heroes arrival.

It's a sign of things to come for the All Whites tomorrow, with between two and three thousand Peruvian fans expected at Westpac Stadium.

Fans have travelled from around the world to greet the team, coming from Peru, Japan and Australia just to get a glimpse of their stars.

If the scenes at Wellington airport are anything to go by, then the All Whites will need to brace for an onslaught of Peruvian support.

The need for New Zealand's own fan base to match the passion and decibel level of the South Americans is now greater than ever.
