Peruvian military jets scream over All Whites' hotel

  • 16/11/2017

Peru's intimidation tactics have turned up another notch after a duo of military jets made a low sweep over the All Whites hotel in Lima on Thursday morning (NZT).

The jets, emblazoned with the message "Vamos Peru" (Come on Peru), produced an ear-splitting noise which could be heard from blocks away, according to NZME's Michael Burgess.

Just hours away from their winner-takes-all World Cup qualifying tie against their hosts, it's likely All Whites players would've been attempting to relax and recharge at the time the jets passed.

It hasn't been an easy build-up for the visting New Zealanders who were also subjected to raucous fireworks display at approximately 3am the same morning, an attempt by Peruvian fans to gain any advantage they possibly can.

The nation will come to a halt for the game against New Zealand as they chase their first World Cup Finals berth since 1982.

The match at kicks off at 3:15pm (NZT) from Estadio Nacional de Lima.
