Blackcaps batsman Ross Taylor equals record for most Test centuries by a New Zealander

Blackcaps batsman Ross Taylor has claimed a share of New Zealand cricketing history.

The 33-year-old's unbeaten 100 on day three of the second Test against the West Indies marks his 17th Test century, drawing him level with mentor Martin Crowe's long-standing NZ record.

Taylor was dogged in his pursuit of his hundred, taking 171 balls to reach his ton, while finding the Seddon Park boundary on nine occasions.

Earlier in the innings, teammate Kane Williamson, also sitting at the 17 mark, seemed to be on his way to the record, before being undone at 54 by a sublime yorker from Miguel Cummins.

Taylor's top-score has lifted New Zealand to a daunting lead of 409 with two wickets remaining as they look to secure the series win against the visiting West Indies.
