Jose Mourinho has reportedly been involved in a dressing-room altercation with Manchester City's goalkeeper Ederson as the Sky Blues celebrated their 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

According to The Telegraph, the 54-year-old was furious with the perceived lack of respect shown to his side following the derby defeat at the hands of their cross-town rivals.

Mourinho was said to have approached the opposition dressing room to express his frustrations at the way the Premier League leaders were celebrating their victory when a war of words erupted with Brazilian stopper Ederson.

The two were reportedly yelling at each other in Portuguese and as the confrontation subdued, Mourinho had water and milk thrown at him, reports The Telegraph.

The former Chelsea boss was already seething after his side were outgunned by the runaway leaders, who now sit 11 points clear atop the EPL table.

Mourinho claimed his side were denied a clear penalty in the 79th minute when Ander Herrera appeared to be clipped in the penalty box by city defender Nicolas Otamendi.

However the Spaniard was booked for simulation by referee Michael Oliver leaving United's players and fans enraged.

"Manchester City are a very good team and they are protected by the luck, and the gods of football are behind them," Mourinho said.

"Yes they [City] had much more of the ball, yes they had that apparent control of the game but the biggest save is the double save of their goalkeeper [Ederson from Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata] and the biggest decision of the game is the unlucky decision of Michael [Oliver]."

United next host Bournemouth on Thursday morning (NZT).
