MATCH ABANDONED

Umpires have had enough and the game has been called off - real shame as a great crowd had turned up. Game three is in two days time at the same venue.

9.59pm: Rain is setting in now ... I'd imagine we are just moments away from confirmation that the match is abandoned.

9.49pm: The rain must stop before play can resume ... which doesn't look likely....it's very light but just won't go away.

9.42pm: Covers are off but still a bit of rain about ... nothing from the umpires yet.

9.33pm: The rain has STOPPED! Umpires going out for a look. Latest we can start is 10:18pm.

9.02pm: The rain looks like it might win the night.....there is no wind to blow this consistent drizzle away.

8.43pm: Nothing to say, except that it's still drizzling and the covers are firmly on at Bay Oval.....So the rain watch continues.

8.31pm: No let up at this stage...still fairly wet at the moment.

8.17pm: Rain coming in a little harder now .... forecast suggests it should clear around 8.45pm so hopefully we get more cricket tonight.

What a shame as the West Indies fought back well after a horrid four over spell when Munro went nuts. The ball was getting drenched and a couple players slipping about in the outfield....Rain is stronger than light but not heavy if that makes sense.

9th Over: Blackcaps 102/4 - Williamson 17 / Kitchen 1

What a catch!!! Brathwaite plucked that out from nowhere...wow!! Bruce smashed a short one to short mid-wicket and the skipper with a diving one hander and Nurse is delighted his awful ball buys a wicket..Kitchen the new man underway off his first ball.. Williamson smokes the final ball through mid-wicket for four.

Wicket Alert: Tom Bruce c Brathwaite b Nurse 3 (7)

8th Over: Blackcaps 95/3 - Williamson 13 / Bruce 1

Badree shows his class in removing Phillips who played back to a quicker one...Bruce the new man survives a lbw shout second ball..the over ends with Williamson securing a nice two through mid wicket..nice two over period for the Windies.

Wicket Alert - Glenn Phillips lbw Badree 10 (5)

Badree replaces Williams (1/24)

7th over: Blackcaps 92/2 - Williamson 11 / Phillips 10

Well that was rather calm....just the 5 runs from that over...Williamson survived a stumping chance.

Ashley Nurse replaces his skipper Brathwaite (0/21)

6th Over: Blackcaps 86/2 - Williamson 9 / Phillips 6

Wicket Alert - Colin Munro c Powell b Williams 66 (23)

Munro continues to blaze ... offers a chance off the first ball to short third man but he can't get his hands to it....the first four ball of the over read 4444..Williams replies well forcing a mistake form the Blackcaps batsmen..slowerball amashed down to long on but he can't clear Powell....Glenn Phillips hits a six off his first ball..crazy over with 24 runs and a wicket coming.

Kesrick Williams replaces Badree (0/20)

5th Over: Blackcaps 62/1 - Williamson 8 / Munro 50

FIFTY - Colin Munro 50(18)

Munro short arm jabs the second ball over square leg for six ... another missed opportunity for the Tui squad....then he smashed a wide one through point for four....Brathwaite went short and Munro made him pay again...hitting through mid wicket for another four...the captain sent a man out there and Munro hits it straight to him but he fumbles the ball over the boundry for another four. 50 for the opener.

Carlos Brathwaite replaces Cotterell (1/21)

4th Over: Blackcaps 41/1 - Williamson 7 / Munro 31

Munro found the boundry twice of Badree in that over ...smashed the second ball through point and then powering ba square pull down to the long off boundry late in the over....Munro generating a great run rate for the Blackcaps.

3rd Over: Blackcaps 32/1 - Williamson 6 / Munro 23

Munro smoked the second ball over the long on boundry for six .... dropped in the crowd by a fella in a Tui shirt...gutted!!  Two balls later he went again..slightly wider but longer this time and again a chance for the Tui brigade....poor effort that.

2nd Over: Blackcaps 15/1 - Williamson 4 / Munro 8

Munro took to Badree off the last couple balls of the over ... powering the ball up and over the offside field.

Samuel Badree to bowl the second over.

1st Over: Blackcaps 4/1 - Williamson 1 / Munro 0

Guptill got the second ball away for a couple ... then went for a wofty cut shot two balls later and the ball took the edge. Williamson joins Munro at the wicket.

Short and wide - Guptill swings and gets a little underedge through to the keeper.

Wicket Alert - Martin Guptill c Walton b Cotterell 2(4) NZ 3/1

7.20pm: Sheldon Cotterell to open the bowling for the Windies.

7.16pm: Players and umpires on their way out for play...no overs lost.

7.13pm: 7.20pm start time has been confirmed as long as the rain stays away. Still a light drizzle but a positive call from the umpires given the great crowd taht has turned up tonight.

7.12pm: Covers are off!! Woot! ... we should have some cricket shortly.

7.10pm: The silly thing about this is that the umpires probably won't allow the players on until it stops drizzling...and it's a really light drizzle...there should be cricket happening right now.

7.07pm: Big covers are off and the umbrella's are down so it's looking good for play soon and we have 24 minutes in hand before we lose time.

7.05pm: The rain has lightened up a bit and if the players were already om the park they wouldn't come off in this....hopefully the umpires get them out there shortly.

6.54pm: That light rain is now heavy....sigh...great crowd in as well which is a shame but they won't lose any overs for at least a half hour so hopefully this clears.

6.51pm: Light rain falling which is annoying..forcast is for any wet weather to clear by 8.30pm.

6.40pm: The Windies have won the toss and elected to field first....Williamson in for Ross Taylor for the Blackcaps and the tourists have brought in Shimron Hetmyer and Sheldon Cotterill.
