A brace from Cristiano Ronaldo broke the hearts of Paris St Germain fans while Liverpool went on the rampage against Porto in the European Champions League on Wednesday (Thursday NZ time).
Real came from behind to beat PSG 3-1 in the Spanish capital after Adrien Rabiot gave the visitors the lead in the 33rd minute.
But goals from Cristiano Ronaldo (45, 83) and Marcelo Vieiria (86) put Real in a strong position for the return leg in Paris.
In Lisbon, it was all one-way traffic as Liverpool belted Porto in a 5-0 thrashing to all but secure a place in the last eight of Europe's elite competition.
Striker Sadio Mane marked his return to form with a hat-trick (25, 53, 85) while further goals from Mohamed Salah (29) and Roberto Firmino (69) completed Porto's misery.
