A French club is willing to make All Blacks star Beauden Barrett the highest paid player in the history of rugby, according to a report from Sydney's Daily Telegraph.
The Australian newspaper claims the unnamed club is prepared to offer the 26-year-old a three-year, NZ$10million deal, worth NZ$3.4million a season after the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
The two-time Player of the Year is believed to be currently earning NZ$1 million a season, through his contract with NZ Rugby and the Hurricanes.
When contacted by the Telegraph, Barrett's agent Warren Alcock refused to comment on any talks linking Barrett to France.
"We couldn't make any comment on that," he said.
Former All Blacks first-five Daniel Carter is currently the highest paid rugby player, earning $2.83 million this season with French club Racing 92.
More than 40 New Zealanders are currently contracted to a club in France's premier rugby tournament, the Top 14.
