FA Cup: Manchester United beat Tottenham 2-1 to reach final

Manchester United have reached the FA Cup final for a record-equalling 20th time by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.

Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera scored at Wembley Stadium on Saturday as United matched Arsenal's mark for appearances in the decider.

They can also equal the Gunners' record of 13 titles when they meet Chelsea or Southampton, who play on Sunday, on May 19.

"I'm really happy for the goal and for the victory because we are in another final," Herrera told the BBC.

"We are getting used to be in the final, which is very good because this club is about titles and playing finals."

Dele Alli scored early for Tottenham, who lost their eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final.

"We let ourselves down, it's very disappointing," the England midfielder said.

"We want to win trophies, we have the staff that want to win.

"We can't keep doing this. We can't throw it away. We have got to improve."

Suspect defending helped Spurs take an early lead as Christian Eriksen ran down a long ball and sent in a cross which the unmarked Alli slid home.

United equalised when Paul Pogba outmuscled Mousa Dembele for the ball and put a perfect cross into the box which Sanchez headed home.

It was the fifth straight FA Cup game at Wembley in which the Chile international has scored, with the previous four coming for Arsenal.

Tottenham nearly went back in front in first-half stoppage time as Eric Dier's shot from distance took a slight deflection and hit the post with keeper David de Gearooted to the spot.

United started well after the break and got the winner when Sanchez played a ball into the area which Spaniard Herrera ran onto and fired past Michel Vorm in the 62nd minute.
