FULLTIME: REDS 12 - 36 CHIEFS

80mins: CHIEFS TRY - Taukei'aho: Chiefs win their own lineout on halfway and Fa'auli is well contained. Reds now the guilty party at the breakdown and it's a penalty. McKenzie finds touch around the 22m. One more try? It's overthrown and the Reds want to play it. Chiefs get it back and Nankivell takes it up to the 22m. They win the penalty and will have the lineout just five or so metres out. They win it and drive! Taukei'aho is over! What a way to finish.

77mins: Another penalty for the Reds at the scrum but Stewart's kick can't find touch. Chiefs look to attack. McKenzie tries a short ball to Retallick but he knocks it on.

75mins: REDS TRY - KEREVI: Rodds pulls in the lineout and the Reds look to drive. Lance switches direction to Kerevi 20 metres out, he runs between two players and he races away to score his second try. Poor defence on that occassion.

73mins: Reds win the penalty at scrum time and they go quickly. Sorovi's added a bit of spark to their attack. And another penalty as Jacobson is pinged for being off his feet at the breakdown.

70mins: Timu gets it off the back of the lineout win, fends one, bumps off McKenzie and takes Cane for a ride as he touches the bottom of the goal posts for the try. Great run. Oh wait. They're checking upstairs. He could have lost it right at the end. Yes, he has! Chiefs scrum. Phew.

69mins: Chiefs are offside and the Reds win the penalty. Lance finds touch with a beautiful kick, just five metres out from the try line.

67mins: Petaia guilty of trying too hard on that occassion. He made a surging run from the lineout, tackled but got back up to have another crack. McKenzie's kick from the penalty doesn't find touch however and we go again.

64mins: Kerevi puts Petaia free down the left wing, he somehow flings the ball back in field before going out but his supporting player is bundled into touch. Nice little move regardless.

62mins: Messam bumps off Scott-Young and the Chiefs look to attack from inside their own half. Lienert-Brown tries to find big Brodie on his outside but it's a bit low and he can't control it. Reds scrum on halfway.

60mins: Reds front-row now pinged for angling in and McKenzie clears for a Chiefs lineout. Reds get it back and Petaia makes a strong run up to halfway. Kerevi tries a short ball to Smith but the veteran can't hold on.

58mins: Reds win it and drive. They make a good amount of metres but the Chiefs do extremely well to eventually kill it off before the Reds players run into each other for a Chiefs free-kick.

56mins: Kerevi looks to provide a bit of spark and does before Lucas makes a nice little run up to the Chiefs 22m. McKenzie is penalised at the breakdown and the Reds will have the lineout just five metres out.

54mins: Chiefs scrum monsters the Reds and Wainui looks to be clear down the right win but Peyper calls them back for the penalty and the Chiefs take it quickly! Chiefs try to shift it fast out wide with quick hand and taps, but Fa'auli's is called forward.

52mins: Fa'auli SMOKES Timu! Oh my goodness! Ball and all from the lineout and Timu's head is snapped backwards in a MONSTER hit. They're actually checking upstairs to make sure it's legal. And it is. Just a great hit.

51mins: JP Smith shows great strength at the breakdown to force Messam to hold on a bit too long and it's a Reds penalty. They'll have the lineout around Chiefs 10m.

48mins: REDS TRY - KEREVI: Rodda wins the lineout and they drive! Tupou peels off and he's stopped JUST short of the try line. Lucas sees a rampaging Kerevi on the left, gives it to him and he's just too strong to stop from that close out and the Reds have their first try.

46mins: Boshier goes high in the tackle and he's penalised. Lance finds touch about eight metres out from the try line. Closest they've been all night.

44mins: CHIEFS TRY - POLWART: There's plenty of space on the left. McKenzie spots it, finds Alaimalo who puts the foot down, beating one, passes to Polwart on the wing and he fends off a would-be-tackler to score a try in the corner.

41mins: The Chiefs immediately have a chance to attack off the quick lineout. They try to keep it in close quarters as they march towards the Reds 22m but they can't hang on it, knocking on.

HALFTIME: REDS 0 - 24 CHIEFS: Funny old half. The Chiefs clearly the better team, but they've been far from their best. McKenzie's injury disrupted their flow, but their defence has been superb as the Reds just look one-dimensional.

40mins: Reds with one final chance to get on the scoreboard. A beautiful ball puts Toua into space down the left but his support player, Perese, comes inside and the ball is thrown to nobody over the sideline. Halftime.

39mins: Chiefs doing incredibly well on defence. Reds look to have space on the outside, but the Chiefs simply shepherd them towards the sideline before bundling them out into touch.

37mins: Reds send the Chiefs scrum marching back plenty of metres to win the penalty and a rare win this half. They'll have the lineout around halfway. Toua almost gets on the outside but is well tackled. Lance puts the kick through along the ground and Ngatai returns with interest near the Reds 10m.

35mins: Ardron is put through a HUGE hole by Cane, sees the cover defender, throws the offload to anyone who wants it and Tahuriorangi picks it up and races away to score the try. Oh no, ball went forward apparently. No try. Close call.

33mins: Chiefs make a mess of Lance's bomb and the Reds will have the scrum around the visitors' 10m. They need to hit back. Fa'auli smokes Kerevi in the midfield but the Reds still have it. Nothing on and Lucas kicks it deep before a return kick sees Toau put it out on the full.

31mins: CHIEFS TRY - RETALLICK: Chiefs just a couple of metres out after a couple of strong runs from their forwards. Retallick picks it up and he crashes over for the try. Too big, too strong from that close out. Reds sinking without a trace.

29mins: Plenty of Chiefs numbers on the left and Alaimalo is tackled well by Daugunu and Lance. Needed to be made. They put the kick through on the right and Fa'auli applies great pressure to force the Reds to knock on for a Chiefs scrum inside the 22m.

27mins: Wainui with another crash-ball special, taking it up to the Reds 10m off the back of the scrum. Lienert-Brown into bit of space, finds McKenzie but the Reds force the turnover.

25mins: Chiefs with a nice set-move out wide but Wainui is tackled well and Lucas right over the top of the ball to win the penalty. Bad news, McKenzie has failed his test and will not return. Marty's time to shine!

23mins: Daugunu absolutely smokes Tahuriorangi from a Reds' kick but he knocked it on in the tackle. Chiefs clear and it's a Reds lineout on halfway. They win it, there's space, but a mis-communication in the midfield results in another knock on.

21mins: Reds with a rare chance to attack, they're on the Chiefs 22m. They give it to their danger-man, Kerevi but all he can do is knock it on. McKenzie is leaving the field for a concussion test.

19mins: CHIEFS TRY - NGATAI: Chiefs just five metres out from the try line. They're lining up on the right, McKenzie gets it, he waits, he waits, and delivers beautifully timed ball to Ngatai who goes in untouched for the try. Alaimalo must be relieved.

17mins: Fa'auli offloads in the tackle to McKenzie who's in acres of space! He's got three defenders closing in and he fires it left to Alaimalo, who steps inside, beating one, and he drops it over the line! Oh my, what a mistake. He was tackled in the motion but it was a simple finish.

14mins: CHIEFS TRY - ARDRON: Ardron takes the throw in and the Chiefs maul! Boshier is just a metre out off the back of a promising Wainui run. Ardron picks it up from the breakdown and touches down for the try! The Canadian strikes again!

12mins: Ngatai steps a couple before offloading to Wainui who's smoked by Tupou! The Chiefs still have it and find space out wide through Alaimalo but the Reds really making solid contact on defence to keep them honest. Reds are offside and they're duly penalised.

9mins: There's space out wide for the Chiefs, McKenzie sees that, but the Reds do well to contain them before Wainui finds himself in a gaping hole. Defenders looming and the winger puts boot to ball for the lineout.

7mins: CHIEFS PENALTY: Lucas penalised at the back of the lineout and McKenzie will have a shot at goal from about 40 metres out on the angle. Makes good contact and it's over!

5mins: McKenie puts the chip kick through and Toua does well to deal with a tough bounce and the Reds clear through the fullback up to halfway into touch.

3mins: A nice, little set-piece move from the lineout and Alaimalo's freed up on the left wing after bumping one away. Reds win the turnover and almost immediately lose it themselves. It'll be a scrum.

1mins: Lance gets us underway and Ardron takes it in for the Chiefs and they drive! They eventually clear and Lance finds touch near the Chiefs 10m.

Pre-match banter:  Determined Chiefs look to leaders for inspiration

The Chiefs have made four changes to their starting XV, all in the forwards, for their Super Rugby clash against Queensland.

Two changes are in the front row, with prop Karl Tu'inukuafe and hooker Liam Polwart promoted for the match in Brisbane on Saturday night.

Tu'unikuafe replaces Aidan Ross, who broke an ankle in the 25-13 defeat to the Hurricanes in Wellington last week. Polwart comes in for Nathan Harris, who is out of the squad altogether.

Canada captain Tyler Ardron returns at lock after being cleared of concussion symptoms, while Fijian Pita Gus Sowakula returns to No.8.

In the backline, Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi is preferred at halfback to Brad Weber, who is on the bench after recovering from a wrist injury.

Former Blues prop Sam Prattley is in line to make his Chiefs debut off the bench, after being drafted in as a interim injury replacement.

The Reds are bottom of the four Australian teams, but Chiefs coach Colin Cooper is wary of the challenge ahead.

"Playing the Reds in Brisbane will be a tough assignment and we've worked really hard with the leaders on having the right mindset," he said.

"The Reds have a number of threats, with their loose forwards, midfielders and outside backs are all big carriers of the ball."

Cooper wasn't discouraged by the defeat to the Hurricanes, who now lead the overall competition, while the Chiefs are third in the New Zealand conference.

"Coming off a loss makes us more determined," he said. "The good thing about that game is that there were opportunities but we just didn't finish them."
