NRL: Shaun Johnson's impressive live cross ahead of Warriors' clash against Dragons has newsreader worried about her job

With Mason Lino impressing for the Warriors in the seven jersey, the injured Shaun Johnson might have a tough time getting back into the starting squad for the team's upcoming game against the Melbourne Storm.

But he has found a new niche as Newshub's rugby league correspondent - taking the microphone for a live cross from Mt Smart Stadium before the Warriors' 20-12 win over the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The 27-year-old was a natural with the microphone in hand, which has left some people in the office worried their jobs are on the line.

"I say good luck to the Warriors, and I hope Shaun Johnson is back soon because I feel like my job is in jeopardy right now," Newshub Sport presenter Nicky Styris said afterwards.

Newshub presenter Mike McRoberts also had some positive words to say about Johnson's performance.

"Honestly he should just have finished the show off for us and we could have gone home early," said McRoberts. "He was fantastic."

"I've always wanted to be a correspondent," Johnson laughed.
