As it happened: NRL - NZ Warriors vs Parramatta Eels

FULLTIME: WARRIORS 24 - 14 EELS: Warriors get back to winning ways with a win here tonight. It really was all about their defence. The Eels piled on the pressure at times but the Warriors kept them at bay. Isaac Luke was incredible and debutant Gerard Beale was impressive. Thanks for joining us.

80mins: Eels keen to throw it around still but they're only going cross field. Gower finds space before giving it to Jennings. Moses passes it off the ground and he's penalised.

79mins: Afoa takes it into contact and the Warriors are up near the Eels 20m with the last to come. Green just guides it into to touch.

77mins: WARRIORS TRY - LUKE: Jennings drops on the last out wide and Maumalo picks it up and races down the left wing before being tackled near halfway. Lino throws the dummy and is just a couple of metres out. Luke runs from dummy half and could be in for the try! He is! He went low and drove over for the game-sealing try.

75mins: Luke tries to find Mannering with a flat ball but it's well forward and the Eels will have the scrum on the 40m. Trash talking continues.

73mins: Takairangi makes a strong run but Smith drops the offload right in front of the try line and the whole Warriors team give him an earful. Hilarious.

71mins: Green's kick JUST takes the wrong bounce and it goes dead. Eels up over halfway now with a couple of strong runs before winning the penalty. Luke and Smith have bit of a "how's ya father?".

69mins: WARRIORS TRY - TEVAGA: Green kicks through, it's a horrible bounce for Moses as it suddenly bounces up and Tevaga says thank you very much to take it in and score the try. Warriors back in front!

67mins: Hiku gets an awkward ball from Moses' kick but does well to hang on to the grubber. The Eels half is penalised straight after.

65mins: Warriors up over halfway through Harris and Lino puts the bomb up but Jennings does well to take it in. Warriors have offered little on attack this half.

63mins: EELS TRY - MA'U: Eels again hot on the Warriors try line but they're holding up. Terepo sees a suring Ma'u running on his right, finds him with the ball, and he powers through Kata and Lawton's tackles to score the try. Trouble for the Warriors.

61mins: Smith finds a ton of open space with the kick down field, Hiku wins the race but opts to go left and he's bundled into touch. Poor decision that.

59mins: Lino's cutout pass to Fusitu'a is well taken in by the winger and he flings it back in field but it can only find Takairangi. We're coming back for Lino's pass, it went forward.

57mins: Eels piling on the pressure once more and Ma'u is just a metre out. Takairangi's attempted grubber is poor and Kata says thank you as he earns a penalty for a high shot.

55mins: Norman tries the bomb on the last and it's again Fusitu'a who takes it in. They've had little luck testing the Warriors back three. The Kiwis look to counter but force the pass and knock on.

53mins: Mannering again puts the foot out to stop Norman's grubber and the Warriors win the penalty.

51mins: Norman tries the cross kick but Fusitu'a does well to leap and take it in. Warriors finally get their hands on the ball. Luke kicks out of dummy half and French does well to keep the ball in the field of play.

49mins: Ma'u tries the offload but it can only find the hands of Mannering, but he's tackled by Smith who somehow rips it back for another set. Moses tries the grubber and Green is forced to take it dead. Great pressure, but even better defence.

47mins: Smith looks to step but Beale makes a good tackle. It's the last but Beale is penalised at the play of the ball and we'll go again. Jennings shows great hands to get the Eels near the try line.

45mins: EELS TRY - GUTHERSON: Warriors still down a man and the Eels have numbers on the right. Gutherson gets it on the wrap around and he strolls in for the easy try. Eels kept it simple and it's paid off immediately.

43mins: Green's forced to kick inside his own half and Jennings does well to adjust to catch it. Jennings forces the penalty and the Eels will have a fresh set of six.

41mins: Eels with the first set of the second half. They're up over halfway and Moses puts the bomb up and Fusitu'a takes it in easily.

HALFTIME: WARRIORS 12 - 2 EELS: Interesting half. The Warriors have been the better team but have been limited on attack. Their defence however has been superb. They showed great determination to keep the Eels out in the last 10 minutes. You get the feeling the second half should open up more.

40mins: Late chance for the Warriors as a strong run by Fusitu'a earns the penalty. Lino tries the drop goal but it's charged down. Halftime.

40mins: Eels have the man advantage out wide but the Warriors do well to rush up and force Jennings to knock on in the tackle. What a defensive stand this has been.

39mins: Moses tries the two metres grubber and Lino's forced to pat it dead for another Eels set. Warriors defence holding up well in the face of a ton of pressure.

37mins: Eels piling on the pressure but Mannering does put the foot out and stop the grubber before diving on the loose ball.

35mins: Luke is penalised over halfway and the Eels take the quick tap. They're just a few metres out from the try line and win another penalty as Papali'i is sent to the bin for 10.

33mins: Moses tries the grubber kick through on the last but Lino does well to clean up and stay out of his own goal area. Fusitu'a is smashed by Smith!

31mins: Eels win the penalty but Norman can't find touch and the Warriors get it back. Papali'i makes the error playing the ball and the Eels breathe a sigh of relief.

29mins: Green finds a rampaging Paasi who's tackled just a metre out from the try line. Green's grubber is well placed and Jennings is forced to dive on it for the line droput.

27mins: Green's kick goes sideways but Kata takes it in, finds Paasi, who puts the grubber in and Gutherson's forced to nudge it into touch. Bizarre.

25mins: Eels looking to hit back but Ma'u knocks on just over halfway for a Warriors scrum. Was Luke in with the tackle. That's their fifth error already.

23mins: Warriors struggling to get out of their own half this time around as Green finds Gutherson with the kick and he's smashed by Beale.

21mins: WARRIORS TRY - HIKU: Beale wins the penalty for the Warriors and we'll start again around the Eels 40m. Lino's cross-kick is beautifully taken in by Maumalo, he flings it back to Hiku, who slips, spins out of a POOR tackle from Jennings to go over for the try.

19mins: Alvaro fends a couple to take it up over halfway and Ma'u follows up with a strong run before earning the penalty but the Eels take the quick tap! They go right but Moeroa drops knocks it on.

17mins: Warriors making good ground up the middle and the pressure results in a penalty right in front. Stacey Jones reckons two and Lino does just that to extend the Warriors lead.

15mins: Jennings slips a couple of Warriors tackles but his play of the ball is poor and Gavet forces him to make the error.

13mins: WARRIORS TRY - FUSITU'A: Warriors show fast hands down the right, Harris cuts out one to find Lino who does brilliantly to give it to Fusitu'a in the face of rush defence and the winger dives over acrobatically in the corner for the try. Great finish.

11mins: Paasi lucky to get away with a high shot on Terepo. Eels forced to kick but King's attempt goes out on the full inside his own half.

9mins: Eels making ground quite easily on the Warriors defence and it's Blair that now concedes the penalty. Moses will line up a shot at goal right in front...Easy as you like, Eels take the lead.

7mins: Scott goes close but the Eels still have it. Norman's grubber kick touches Fusitu'a on its way over the in goal area and it'll be a line dropout.

5mins: Green's kick is a good one, but French does well to grab with defenders on him. Takairangi makes a good run before Lino's penalised.

3mins: Eels with great field position, up over the 40 with a couple tackles left. They go left but Gutherson's pass is dropped by French.

1mins: We're underway and it's the Warriors with the first set. They make their way over halfway before Green kicks. Kata is penalised for holding on too long.

7:58pm: Players make their way onto the field. Just moments away now from kick off!

7:56pm: Thanks for joining us tonight. There have been a couple of late changes to the Warriors side. Hiku's gone to fullback, while Beale will make his first-grade debut for the club in the centres.

Kia ora and welcome to live updates of the Warriors' clash with the Eels at ANZ Stadium.

There are no easy games in the NRL, and that rings truer than ever for this depleted Warriors side up against the bottom-placed Eels tonight.

The loss to the Roosters last weekend was a cruel reality check for this NZ side. Can they bounce back against in Sydney without Shaun Johnson and in-form fullback and captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck?

Commentary will start from around 7:55pm. In the meantime check out the video above for a preview of tonight's showdown.

Pre-match banter - Eels coaches predicts Warriors backlash

Parramatta coach Brad Arthur is predicting a physical battle when his Eels face the Warriors in Sydney on Friday night.

After being trounced 32-0 by the Roosters last week, the Warriors are determined to bounce back against the last-placed Eels.

The Warriors welcome back hooker Issac Luke for the clash, but they remain without Shaun Johnson who is sidelined with a foot injury.

They will also be without their captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who stayed back in New Zealand as his fiancé is due to have the couple's first child in the coming days.

Blake Green will captain the side in Roger's absence, while the decision of who will start at fullback for the round 11 fixture will be confirmed an hour before kick-off.

Arthur predicts the Warriors will be fired up after last week's poor performance.

"They had a performance they weren't happy with a while ago, and then they bounced back the next week, and they were unbelievable with their physicality," said Arthur.

"They are big, strong and carry the ball hard so we will have to be good defensively, because if you let them get a roll on, they're hard to stop."
