Silver Ferns defender Kelly Jury will miss the rest of the national netball premiership after dislocating her shoulder.

The 21-year-old incurred the injury against the Southern Steel a fortnight ago, and her Bay of Plenty Magic side have today confirmed it will require surgery.

The estimated recovery time of six to nine months also rules her out of contention for the Silver Ferns' 2018 international campaign.

Jury took to social media to express her frustration.

"I am absolutely devastated that this has put an end to my Magic season so early on, and that I won’t get the chance to wear the black dress again this year," she said in a post to Instagram.

The news comes as part of a double-blow for the side, with Sydney Fraser also sidelined for the year with an ACL tear.

"While all of us in the Magic camp are extremely disappointed about the season-ending injuries sustained by both Sydney and Kelly, we have rallied and will step up a team," said head coach Margaret Forsyth.

Jury has played 22 tests for the Silver Ferns since making her debut against England in February last year.
