Flights to Bali have been postponed yet again as a volcanic ash cloud returns.

Air New Zealand said a flight to Denpasar, NZ245, had been postponed today and would now fly out tomorrow morning if conditions improved.

Jetstar said it was monitoring the situation after a flight from Melbourne to Bali was turned back.

"Unfavourable winds around Indonesia have pushed the volcanic ash plume from Mount Raung back toward Denpasar Airport this morning," it said.

It said it would update customers about later flights this afternoon but was advising travellers not to go to airports for Bali flights without checking their flight status first.

Virgin Australia has cancelled all 10 of today's services into and out of the Indonesian resort island.

Earlier this month ash clouds emitted by Mount Raung forced the closure of the airport, leaving hundreds of holidaymakers stuck on the island.
