Federal authorities have raided the home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle in connection to a child pornography investigation.

FBI agents and Indiana State Police raided Fogle's Indiana home on Tuesday (local time), and searched the house with a police dog. They also removed all electronics from the Zionsville property.

Fogle was known as the face of Subway adverts, after losing 111kg more than 15 years ago by regularly eating the restaurant's sandwiches.

A Subway spokesperson released a statement relating to the raid later on Tuesday.

"We are shocked about the news and believe it is related to a prior investigation of a former Jared Foundation employee. We are very concerned and will be monitoring the situation closely. We don't have any more details at this point."

The spokesperson later said they would be suspending their relationship with spokesman Fogle.

Two months ago the then-executive director of Fogle's foundation, the Jared Foundation, was arrested on child sex image charges.

In May federal prosecutors filed a criminal complaint charging Russell Taylor with seven counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

The Jared Foundation is an organisation founded by Fogle to raise awareness about childhood obesity.

After the charges were filed Fogle issued a statement saying he was shocked by the allegations against Taylor, 43.

He said the foundation severed all ties with Taylor following the arrest.

Neighbours reportedly said Fogle and his wife entertained frequently but kept to themselves.
