Europe refugee crisis: Germany re-introduces border controls

Germany has introduced temporary controls along its border with Austria as it struggles to cope with the influx of refugees.

The country's interior minister announced the immediate re-introduction of temporary border controls to stem the flow.

He says the move is a signal to the whole of Europe and that refugees cannot choose their host countries.

Train services into Germany from Austria have also been suspended leaving hundreds of migrants stranded.

Germany expects to receive as many as 800,000 people this year and it's not just the sheer number but also the speed they're arriving at that's causing issues.

Munich claims it has now reached capacity with another 13 thousand refugees arriving in one day.
