Video: Eyeing up the iPad Pro?

The man of my house has had competition – a new handsome beast with brains and brawn entered my life a week ago with an invite to play. It would have been rude to say no.

Luckily for him, the 12.9 inch iPad Pro can't simultaneously cook, build a deck and put the baby to bed. Otherwise, I might be tempted to swap.

After giving it a workout, I let it work its charms on a couple of my 3 News colleagues.

If you're looking to buy one, check our reviews below and take a look at our video to see some of the features.

To buy or not to buy?

The keyboard capabilities are crucial for me and the iPad Pro delivers with its keyboard cover. The pencil was also great for drawing. I can see graphic designers and teachers loving it.

For work purposes the iPad Pro would be very handy. For home use, I'd stick with the iPad Air as it's less cumbersome.

The iPad Pro is about the size of two iPad Airs side-by-side.

Cons:

To buy or not to buy?

I personally loved the screen but found myself reaching for my iPad Air over the Pro most of the time, so unless you have a specific need for the size/speed I wouldn't buy it. There are many cheaper/more functional Apple options available.

To buy or not to buy?

For the screen, absolutely. It's great for work but the size still a bit cumbersome for home use and I'd still want the iPad Air.

Great if you're looking for a work device that's powerful and simple to use with cool accessories. Perfect for teachers, graphic designers, architects and the like. It also translates well from the workplace to the sofa.

However, if you're just wanting it for sofa browsing, it would be a waste of money for you.

The iPad Pro costs from $1400. The smart Apple Pencil is an extra $189 and the keyboard cover is $319.

It is available to order online.
