Obama's drive for new gun laws

In the last year, there were no fewer than 372 mass shootings in America.

And President Obama has, it seems, finally had enough. He's considering using his executive powers to drive through new gun laws - bypassing Republican opposition in Congress.

He's meeting the US Attorney General on Monday (local time) and White House sources said the new plans were "imminent". The country's powerful gun lobby accused him of defying the will of the people.
