CCTV footage has emerged of a Russian hospital doctor in a violent confrontation with a patient and his friend.
After a single punch to the head the patient falls to the floor and dies.
The incident took place on December 29 and the video has gone viral after being broadcast on Russian TV channel 360.
Russian police are investigating and the surgeon has now been charged with manslaughter.
It’s alleged the patient struck a nurse during a medical procedure and the surgeon came to defend her.
Reports suggest he died of head injuries caused by hitting the back of his head against the floor.
In the footage, the doctor walks into the room followed by a nurse who points at a patient. The surgeon then grabs the patient and pushed him inside the adjacent room.
When the patient's friend tries to interfere, the surgeon starts punching him. He then turns and knocks out the patient with a powerful blow to the head.
The doctor continues hitting the friend as the patient lays motionless on the floor.
Moments later, when the surgeon returns to the patient, he tries to resuscitate him without success.
If found guilty of manslaughter the doctor could face up to two years in prison.
