GUANTANAMO BAY TO CLOSE

Obama has just announced plans to close Guantanamo Bay prison, saying keeping it open is contrary to US values, it undermines their standing in the world and does nothing for national security.

There are 91 detainees still held there.

It’s thought nearly 60 of them will be transferred to the US.

THE PRIMARY RACE

Voting in the Nevada caucus begins today.

Trump is still being Trump, he reacted to a heckler at a campaign rally saying: “I’d like to punch him in the face.”

GATES BACKS THE FBI

Bill Gates has weighed in on the dispute between Apple and the FBI.

He’s backing the FBI, saying Apple should comply with the order to allow the San Bernardino shooters phone to be hacked.

Gates says allowing the feds access would not set a precedent, the government is asking for specific information for a specific case, and likens it to police wanting access to phone or bank records.

Most of the tech community, including Twitter & Edward Snowden, are supporting Apple.
