Prague Zoo is set to get a bump in visitors following the surprise birth of a baby gorilla.

Shinda gave birth at the weekend, with both already on show to the public, Sky News reports. Her keepers didn't even know she was pregnant.

The 24-year-old western lowland gorilla had carried the unnamed baby for the entire gestation period of around eight-and-a-half months.

No one thought anything of Shinda's pregnancy because she'd miscarried before, and keepers thought she'd just put on weight.

Shinda was reportedly looking tired following the birth and both are believed to be doing well with no complications with the delivery.
