At least eight people have been shot dead in an execution-style rampage in Ohio, United States.
Among the dead are five adults and two young people who all appear to be from the same family, according to local police.
Seven bodies were found in three different homes in Pike County and an eighth was found at a fourth location later in the day.
None of the deceased have been formally identified, but Ohio's Attorney General Mike DeWine told media the family's last name was Rhoden and they had all been shot in the head.
"It would appear also that it occurred during the night. We have victims who were in bed. One mum was apparently killed in her bed with a four-day-old right there."
The motive for the killings remains unclear at this stage, but the family was clearly targeted.
Police have said a four-day-old, a six-month-old and a three-year-old all survived the shooting.
Phil Fulton, a pastor at the family's former church described the victims as a woman, her ex-husband and their adult children.
"Such a tragic, tragic situation what has happened," he said. "I can't imagine what they are going through right now."
In regard to who is responsible for the killings, Mr DeWine said there is the possibility they might be among the deceased, but it is looking increasingly like that is not the case, which could mean the assailant is still at large.
