A woman has jumped into a tiger enclosure in a Canadian zoo to retrieve her fallen hat, landing behind the security fence in a bold move which left her heckled by zoo-goers while the tiger paced only metres away.
In a video posted to YouTube, one onlooker is heard shouting at the woman as she's down in the pen.
"You're a moron, you're a f***ing moron," he said.
After she escaped the enclosure, hat in hand and leaving the frustrated tiger stalking back and forth, the heckling continued. Others at the zoo were angry, and they weren't about to let her run off.
"You're a bad example to everyone else's kids and your own," a person in the crowd said.
The arguing continued and concerns for the woman's safety almost turned aggressive.
Toronto Zoo spokesperson Jennifer Tracey told CBS News the woman was acting in a very irresponsible manner and that the situation could have ended a lot worse.
"She could have easily injured herself by exciting the animal in this way," she said.
Ms Tracey said all visitors to the zoo are expected to notify staff if they drop something into an enclosure, as they have equipment that allows them to retrieve lost items safely.
