Mourners have started to gather for the funeral service of murdered Melbourne toddler Sanaya Sahib.
A public memorial service is being held at the Bunurong Memorial Park followed by a family-only, traditional Islamic burial.
Sanaya, 14 months, was found murdered in the Darebin Creek on Sunday, less than 24 hours after her mother, Sofina Nikat, told police she had been snatched from her pram in Olympic Park in Heidelberg West.
Nikat, of Mitcham, was charged with her daughter's murder on Tuesday and remains in custody.
Sanaya's uncle Jameel Ahmad will speak at the short service on Saturday morning on behalf of the family.
Family from interstate and New Zealand, where Sanaya's father was born, have flown to Melbourne for the funeral.
On Friday, about 200 people including Sanaya's family members gathered at Olympic Park for a vigil and balloon releasing ceremony.
