A base-jumping Kiwi great-grandmother has become a millionaire after buying a lottery ticket while on holiday in England.

Diana De Gilio won just over NZ$2 million on Friday after buying a ticket the day before her 70th birthday while visiting a friend in Norfolk, according to lottery company EuroMillions.

Exciting birthdays have become somewhat of a habit for the great-grandmother of seven, who for her 69th jumped off Auckland's Sky Tower.

Mr De Gilio, an avid traveller, told reporters she would be returning to New Zealand later this month but plans to spend the money on more trips around the globe.

"My immediate thought was unprintable. I could not believe it," she said, according to The Eastern Daily Press.
