A race against time to save a blue whale trapped in fishing nets off California has been suspended for the night.
The giant of the sea is more than 20 metres long.
Tourists were the first to notice something was wrong. They raised the alarm, and rescue crews have since been able to remove some of the ropes trailing behind the whale.
They haven't been able to reach the line that's wrapped around a flipper, and will try again on Tuesday (local time).
