Riot police in Turkey have fired tear gas and plastic bullets at transgender rights activists who gathered in defiance of a ban on marching.

Scuffles broke out as the crowd of around 150 fled into nearby streets.

Two people were arrested.

Authorities have banned transgender and gay pride parades this month, citing security concerns after threats from ultra-nationalists.
