Bird strike forces emergency landing at Sydney Airport

A United Airlines plane had to make an emergency landing at Sydney Airport after a bird flew into its engine.

The flight, bound for Los Angeles, was forced to turn around at about 10:30am (local time) after the collision.

The plane dumped fuel in order make the aircraft lighter for landing.

All passengers on board were safe, with one man capturing the moment and posting a video to Instagram.

"A tad unnerving to watch this out your window. All is fine, however, and that is most important!" he said.
