Dramatic photos have emerged of a plane that overshot a runway and crash-landed on a road just outside the Orio al Serio international airport in Italy.

The plane was arriving in Bergamo in the early hours of Friday morning (local time) from Paris. No passengers or crew were injured in the accident.

The Boeing 737 is the property of multinational logistics and freight company DHL, and its mishap caused the closure of the airport just after 4am.

Italian media claim that the incident occurred as a result of bad weather in the region.
